It was 50 years ago today ("Lovely Rita")

Conheci uma Rita quando eu era criança. Era uma polaquinha que morava na esquina da casa da minha avó. Anos depois, quando saiu o Sgt. Pepper's fiquei pensando o quanto ela poderia ser "lovely" se a encontrasse novamente. Anos depois quando resolveram cobrar estacionamento (sem parquímetro) surgiram as "periquitas", as nossas "meter maids" (isso é um regionalismo aqui da minha cidade pois os uniformes delas era verde). A música parece uma estória em quadrinhos, é fácil imaginar como seriam "a sister or two" ... Na época não fez muito sucesso mas como era uma música dos Beatles ...

Standing by a parking meter, 
When I caught a glimpse of Rita, 
Filling in a ticket in her little white book. 
In a cap she looked much older, 
And the bag across her shoulder 
Made her look a little like a military man.

When are you free to take some tea with me. 
Took her out and tried to win her, 
Had a laugh and over dinner, 
Told her I would really like to see her again

Got the bill and Rita paid it, 
Took her home I nearly made it, 
Sitting on the sofa with a sister or two.
